The weather is perfect for hikes right now; not too cold, but not warm or humid, either. We met today at the Big Thicket Visitor’s Center in Kountze, and then went out to walk the Sundew Trail in Tyler County. It’s a beautifully maintained hiking trail that’s a mile on the outer loop, or you can opt for the inner loop, which is 0.3 miles and paved (so easily wheelchair or stroller accessible). After walking the big loop, the kids took the inner loop on their own. Afterwards, we picnicked at the pavilion.
If you have the opportunity, we highly recommend a visit to the Visitor’s Center!
Next month, we’re planning on doing some community service work in the Big Thicket. Stay tuned!
